As a creative, my work is to help people promote their business. I spend hours brainstorming, sketching, prototyping and creating strategies to transmit the right message to the right clientele. Most of my clients love my work, that is why once they hire me, they come back to see what could be my next big idea to keep them in the battle.
That is why I thought it was a good time to use this creativity to create something different to promote my personal branding. Usually I keep in touch with friends and clients through social media, website and email marketing, but I must push myself further and go beyond the internet. After analyzing different alternatives, a magazine advertisement was the perfect solution.
After some months of research, phone calls, emails, the solution came to me. I met Davina Ferreira, she is the Co-publisher and Editor in Chief of a Magazine that really got my attention ALEGRIA MAGAZINE. Personally, this is the best Latin Publication that I have seen in United States so far. The layout is really professional and the content is unique. If you are latin, you would be proud of it. You would get inspired by talented people achieving their dreams with hard work and persistence.
If you are not latin, this could be a great source to explore our culture and since it is bilingual, you could learn some spanish as well.
But I can’t rely on passion alone in business, there was an important point that I should keep in mind before make my decision… who their advertisers are? Well, Lexus, Universal Studios, Blackberry and Acura just to name a few! This confirms the quality of this publication and no doubt this is the perfect solution to keep my personal brand going up.
I’m really happy with the final result. I have created a simple and powerful ad. If you have the opportunity to get Alegria Magazine, it is a huge 10″ x 12″ format, the paper and print quality are just amazing, the details and shadows are so perfect that they give some life to the hand in my ad. In addition, the left side page has a black background. It couldn’t be better to increase the contrast. This proves that quality and high design level worked here.
Since this is a bilingual magazine, the main tagline is a popular latin saying “Más vale pájaro en mano” (the english equivalent could be “A bird in the Hand is better…”). I have decided to avoid the second part of this saying. Instead, I used ellipsis to indicate the phrase is incomplete. The purpose is that readers have interaction with the ad completing the second part of the saying. At the same time, this connection between the main tagline (A bird in the Hand is better…) and the hand is kind of funny message for most people. As a great advertising genius once said:
